Airline Travel Tips

Airline travel is both the gift and the bane of travellers lives. Air travel allows us to fly here, there and everywhere but along with that comes lost luggage, delayed flights, lost money and a WHOLE lot of planning and organisation.

Here are 5 good Airline Travel Tips that should save you some time, money and a few headaches!

  1. Where possible, book your flights after midnight. I’ve heard from countless people (and experienced myself) that flight prices drop after the clock hits 12. The difference can sometimes be hundreds of dollars so it’s worth one tired morning to stay up and book!
  2. Shop around for your flights. The difference in prices amongst airlines can be astronomical and at the end of the day I treat flying as a means of getting from a to b and what name is on the plane is of little importance. Using sites like Expedia.com and Travelocity.com that compare flight prices from dozens of major airlines can be a great way to see which is going to be the best value for your trip.
  3. We all know that airline food is not 5 star cuisine so if you know you’ve got a big flight ahead of you pack your own snacks to keep you going. There’s nothing worse than being hungry on a long haul flight and not having the option for something yummy.
  4. If you’re going to be flying for more than 12 hours pack another set of clothes, your toothbrush and some wet wipes – especially if you’ve got people meeting you at the airport on the other end. A wet wipe shower, clean teeth and a fresh set of clothes will make you feel a WHOLE lot better after a huge plane journey.
  5. Have all your forms, passport and flight information in a safe compartment. I keep all our documents, passports and flight info together in one envelope so there’s little to no chance anything can go missing. It also helps cut down on time at the check in counter, customs and immigration having all your docs ready to show.

Airline travel won’t ever be foolproof but there are definitely ways to make your trip a whole lot easier!
