Business Travel Tips

business-travelBusiness and travel often go hand in hand but if you’re new to the traveling world you may need a bit of a helping hand to get you safely on your way. Given the stress of travel by itself, paired with work pressure and you’ve got quite a tough combination!

Don’t panic just yet though, I’ve put together these 5 Business Travel Tips to help you on your way to business and travel glory!

  1. Never put your laptop in your suitcase! Always, always, always take your laptop on board with you. If you’ve ever caught a glimpse of the baggage movers you’ll know that they’re not always gentle and the last thing you want is to land at your destination to find your laptop is broken and your business presentation is lost!
  2. Pack a backpack – old school style! Take a small bag/backpack with a change of clothes, toiletries, memory stick (with a backup of all the files you need), phone charger, laptop charger and a copy of your hotel and flight information. If (knock on wood) anything were to happen to your luggage you want to be prepared.
  3. Keep the tax man happy and keep all your receipts! Your travel expenses when on a business trip may be deductable so be sure to keep a record of everything you spend money on. Tax deductable expenses may include meals, accommodation, transport and business-related supplies you might need while you’re there – just make sure you keep every receipt.
  4. Stay healthy, stay hydrated. Traveling can be taxing on your body especially if you’re flitting between time zones. One way to ensure you stay in tip top shape is by keeping hydrated. Drinking lots of water will help keep your energy levels high, keep your skin hydrated and help stave off any unwanted bugs you might come across.
  5. Change your watch the minute you land! If you are changing time zones make sure you change your watch the minute you land to avoid being embarrassingly late to an important meeting.

Business can go happily hand in hand with travel but you need to play it smart. Follow the business travel tips I’ve talked about and you should be on your way to a great mix of business with pleasure!
